You can pretty much drop your buttons and menus wherever you please; however, there are some guidelines on how you can make the most of your application buttons and menus. Some layout components, such as Panel Collection and Panel Box, have facets that are specifically designed for menus and buttons. Where you can, use these facets, given they are designed for that purpose. Furthermore, there are parent container components, such as Toolbar and Toolbox, that are also designed to work with buttons and menu components. For example, a Toolbar Button component would typically appear inside a Toolbar component, and the Toolbar component is responsible for managing the layout and stretching of the components within it. The Toolbar component also shows an overflow icon if the page has been resized and not all components in the toolbar are visible. If you require a stack of multiple menus and toolbars, then you can use a Toolbox component to group the required menu and toolbar components.

date is a value class intended to store, keep track of, and manipulate dates and times. A value of the date class is an object containing properties that describe the year, month, day, day of week, hour, minute, and second of that date. The way AppleScript compiles and displays date literals and converts strings into date objects and back depends upon the settings in the International panel of System Preferences.

The following statement: date "2/3/06" will compile like this: date "Friday, February 3, 2006 12:00:00 AM" assuming your Mac uses a U.S.-style month/day/year date format. When you use a date string to specify dates, AppleScript is pretty flexible in the values it will accept as a valid date. All the following strings compile properly when converted to dates: date "03/03/03" --> date "Monday, March 3, 2003 12:00:00 AM" date "0" --> date "Monday, May 31, 2004 12:00:00 AM" date "5/1/2002" --> date "Wednesday, May 1, 2002 12:00:00 AM" You can also marry a date and a time using the following form: date time_string of date_object For example: date "5:00 PM" of (current date) --> date "Monday, May 31, 2004 5:00:00 PM" AppleScript also allows you to write relative to rather than of if you find it more readable: date "6:30 AM" relative to date "September 1, 2003" --> date "Monday, September 1, 2003 6:30:00 AM"

As with other UI components such as text fields and tables, you can either drop a button onto a page from the Component Palette and wire it up to an action, or drag a business method from the Data Controls panel as a button.
